For topic, i can give advice to watch tv shows like "Friend" or "Simpsons" where you know plot and near second or third episode begin to hear all they are saying.

I suppose, the barrier, described above, appears due to a fear of saying something incorrectly. In case you watch any English movies/cartoons, you can grab some sentences from 'em and use them, being sure they are correct. Am I right?
