The alarm triggering at 12 minutes was due to the BCM config, specifically option "34 - Reset If Alarm". Mine was set to "Without Retrigger Functionality". I changed it to "Retrigger Functionality" and it no longer goes off 12 minutes after arming.

The ultrasonics work perfectly too.

Mission accomplished.

Right hand side. I get the feeling right hand drive Kuga's have it on the right, left hand drive might be on the left (going by a couple of different diagrams I've come across.)

The Thatcham alarm siren turned up yesterday. I found the correct wiring plug and it plugged straight in- and it works perfectly.

Thanks. I'm fairly confident I can do it with the information I have, even if the siren wiring is missing.


I'm still waiting on the parts to arrive, but I have verified the wiring is connected to the BCM plugs, so the correct plug for the Thatcham siren should be on the other end. I'm not going to disassemble and look for it until the siren arrives.

Since fitting them, I've found the indicator speed will sometimes speed up for 3-4 flashes and then revert to normal. Given the electronic flasher circuits in modern vehicles I'm a bit puzzled as to why this is happening? The BCM has intermittent open circuit(?) errors logged for both the left and right hand side indicator circuit.

I have the factory rear LED lights (LED brake and tail/ parking lights). In FoCCCus the rear light setting is set to "Unknown" from memory- the LED option wasn't enabled. I'm not sure if playing with this setting will help at all given the factory LED rear lights have filament indicator bulbs.


This got worse after fitting LED's into the side mirrors for the indicators, with mostly fast flashing for both left and right indicators.

With this one, the rear indicator LED bulbs draw around 0.76 Amps and the stock filament bulb 1.72 Amps. Today I enabled the "Rear LED combo light" in FoCCCus and cleared the faults. (It was set to "Unknown".) Testing (ignition on, but engine not running) looked okay for both right and left indicator speed, but I'll have to take it for a drive to check if it's made any difference.

I think that's going to vary from country to country.

There's a person from Denmark and they're missing the bonnet switch (like I was), but the wiring loom doesn't appear to be fitted because it's not plugged into the white plastic piece on their latch like my loom was. I came across that person on the UK forum. Another person in Spain is in close contact with me and is attempting to do the same job- they don't have any form of alarm fitted either.

I purchased the final piece of my jigsaw today - the interior movement sensors. So once everything arrives I'll be having some fun fitting the new parts.

I tried setting the Alarm to "Unknown" which then allowed me to input "02" ("unknown" was the only option that allowed me to enter a custom value in the Alarm field.)

It didn't work and totally disabled the alarm - the previously flashing red light in the instruments didn't flashing when the car was locked. I opened a locked door through the open window (I don't have dead locking either) and there was no alarm.

Thanks everyone for your help - I've got enough information to continue and hopefully install a fully functioning Thatcham Cat1 alarm system.

I'll post back on how it turns out once I get some parts from overseas.

Okay, Russia must have another variant? I don't think the USA perimeter alarm has the interior movement sensor and the USA forum gave me the impression the engine bay horn was used for their Escape perimeter alarm?

I did check my wiring against a Focus schematic (with the internal alarm horn) and they used relay R5 and fuse F8. Those positions in my rear fuse box aren't used and don't even have the metal connectors fitted in the base of the fuse box.

I'll try the "02" value tomorrow. Thanks.

Okay, I assumed you must have had the Cat1 as (from what I've read) in Russia there is a big interest in car security? Do you have the "Interior Volume Detector" (ultrasonics) fitted? I noticed in FoCCCus there was a separate field to turn them on.

From memory in FoCCCus I had two alarm system options - Perimeter and Thatcham Cat1. I initially tried "Perimeter" (given I assumed there wouldn't be the battery back up siren fitted- with the bonnet switch and motion detectors missing) however the factory horn didn't trigger when the alarm was set off - only the hazards flash. The BCM had a fault of "Horn open or short circuit" (or something similar?)

I then tried the Cat 1 setting and had a BCM fault of "Battery Siren short or open circuit" (or something similar).

That's left me wondering if:
a. a separate horn is fitted for the perimeter alarm?
b. my factory fit wiring loom is set up for the Thatcham battery back up system?

I haven't been able to locate any RHD Kuga specific wiring diagrams (only Escape diagrams.)

Thanks for the reply, that would be better for me too! I've sent you a message with my VIN.

Basically, I've got a 2016 build Australian Kuga Titanium (top of the range here- no X or anything available.) It's got the 2.0l petrol EcoBoost engine (not the diesel) with the touch sensitive door handles/ folding mirrors. There is nothing fitted in the way of an alarm on any Kuga sold here- it isn't even an option (PATS is fitted.) I am fitting the missing alarm components myself. I have found the wiring loom plug for the bonnet switch (and have fitted the switch to the bonnet latch.) I'm in the process of sourcing the Thatcham Cat 1 battery backup siren / sounder and Interior Volume (ultrasonic) sensors from the UK. I've checked and the loom plug is there for the Interior Volume Sensor.

I've used FoCCCus (whoever created that program is a genius) to enable the alarm function. I've now got the flashing red light on the instrument panel and the hazard lights flash if a door is opened- but no horn or siren. There are codes in the BCM for open or short circuit horn/ siren when I've enabled both alarm type options (perimeter or Thatcham Cat1.) Being RHD (made in Spain) I'm assuming it most likely will have the loom for the Thatcham battery backup siren- which is why the horn doesn't work for the perimeter alarm setting???

I've been trying to work out where the factory Thatcham battery backup siren/ sounder is fitted? The best I can find is a diagram with an arrow pointing to the bottom left hand corner of the windscreen (or perhaps even indicating somewhere under the dashboard inside?) I know it's got a 3 pin plug and have found various pictures on Ebay etc.
